The Butler County Sports Hall of Fame began in 1966 when a group of local business men decided to have a going away dinner for a local baseball official who was going to umpire for Major League Baseball. HIs name was Eddie Vargo. Eddie went on to have a long time major league career From that small farewell dinner the Butler Area Spots Hall of Fame was created. Over the years numerous athletes have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Changes made over the years include changing the name to the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame. Also increasing the number of athletes being inducted annually, and in different era's and also adding a Team Recognition Award starting in 2010. ​   2023 HOF Information!

​There will not be a HOF banquet in 2023. The next banquet is set for April of 2024. The banquet will be held at the Butler County Community College.
